About The Trainer

A  little bit about myself...
Hello all, thank you for stopping by! My name is Taylor Wilkowski, I am an ABC Certified Dog Trainer Level 2 (ABCDT-L2), I am also certified in working with shelter dogs, and cat's.  I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and moved to Bellingham, WA 4 years ago. Since I've been here, I've been working on my new career as a Professional Dog Trainer. Animals are my passion (along with food), and I don't know what I would do without them in my life! I live with my ferret Hermes, and my Shiba, Adonis. I got my first ever dog 12 years ago, and I couldn't be more thankful to have him in my life. I have always loved working with animals, but didn't realize exactly how much until my red and white Shiba Inu came along! Blue Falcon had Dynomutt, Kal-El had Krypto, and I have Adonis, the best partner I could ask for. Together, we hope to help everyone we encounter to see just how special these intelligent  creatures are, and how they are taken for granted all too often.

Schooling Background...

ABC is the Animal Behavior College, one of the best schools you could go to for this type of training. I have spent over a year studying dog behavior, dog body language, the different types of  training and reinforcement, and have worked with a mentor with 30 years of experience in dog training during my externship with ABC. I continue to stay in touch with her and keep my information and training up to date. Unfortunately, it is not necessary to have any certification to train dogs, but you can rest assured knowing that I am confident and know what I am doing!

Why train with me?

Why choose me, what do I have that other professionals don't? What do you get out of a lesson with me, is it worth it? You may be asking yourself these questions, and rightfully so! Nobody wants some average Joe off the street to come into their home and start "barking" orders at them about how to train their beloved pet. Well, I may not be able to talk to your dog in English, but I can work with you to understand how to talk to your dog using body language. Because dogs speak to each other through body language, knowing the basics can mean the difference between a confident dog and a confused one. Not only do I come to your house to teach, but I will walk you through the lesson plan step by step to make sure you understand exactly what's going on and why.  Each lesson lasts a minimum of 1 hour, where you will be able to ask me any question under the sun you may have about your dog(s). When our lesson is finished, I will send you a printable copy of what we worked on in person via email to help with any troubleshooting issues that may occur over time. The point of the lesson plan is to help you as an owner (and teacher) to keep the training as consistent as possible. Remember, in the training world, consistency is key! As if that's not all, I'm also available to help on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to help with  general obedience or work on long-term behavioral problems. If you need help, I'm here to give it, so don't be shy I won't bite!
